Olivia C. Davies is mixed heritage, Metis-Anishnawbe Kwe from Ottawa, Canada. Classically trained in Ballet and Modern Dance, Davies studied at York University and went on to specialize in Contemporary Dance-Theatre. Davies is an independent dance artist practicing her art form in Vancouver on unceded Coast Salish territory. She belongs to the Full Circle Ensemble, the Indigenous Performing Arts Alliance, and the Canadian Dance Assembly. Davies has worked as an apprentice with Starrwind Productions, Body Narrative Collective and Raven Spirit Dance, and is currently an apprentice with the Dancers of Damelahamid. In 2006, Davies co-founded the MataDanZe Collective with the mission of empowering women through movement. Her diverse range of choreography and performance has been presented by the Canadian Film Centre, Fashion Art Toronto, Nuit Blanche Festival, Harbourfront Centre's 60x60 Dance Toronto, BC Buds Spring Arts Festival, Dancing on the Edge Festival of Contemporary Dance and Movement, and Talking Stick Festival. Davies is President of Urban Ink Productions, Board Director of CADA Western Chapter, and recently formed the “somewhere there” collective of music, dance and poetry.
