About Arrivals Legacy Project

Arrivals Legacy Project is an interdisciplinary arts organization that teaches artists to access and re-route their creative impulses by attuning to the wisdom of their ancestral stories and root cultural practices. We’re at an exciting stage in our organization’s development. We’ve recently created a new visual identity, and are developing a website with an innovative virtual studio that will build on the work done in our in-person workshops by providing a online space for ALP alumni to collaborate and share their stories. We’re looking for a Communications Coordinator to help us launch our organization and new offering to our audiences.

About the Role

Arrivals Legacy Project (ALP) Communications Coordinator (CC) is responsible for ensuring that all of ALP’s communications are managed, executed according to project and program schedules, and meet ALP brand guidelines. The CC will manage the organization’s social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Twitter), Newsletters (E-Blasts via Mailchimp), the ALP website, and all external marketing and communication graphics, assets and collateral. In addition to these activities, the CC will support project management of all major ALP projects from a communications perspective. The CC will collect information, updates, and news from all team members on ALP’s various projects and initiatives

The position will report to ALP’s Artistic Director and Communications Director.

Responsibilities include:

  • Project Management
    • Setting a e-blast/newsletter schedule
    • Setting up a social schedule with key campaigns
    • Tracking and leading timelines for all major projects to ensure that comms is up to date on all organizational projects and activities
  • Social Media
    • Managing Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Tik Tok accounts
    • Submitting monthly reports and analytics to the Artistic Director and Communications Director with social media trends and activities
    • Advising on how to improve social media
    • Responding to comments and messages in the ALP channels
  • Newsletters
    • Developing a newsletter template
    • Preparing regular newsletters and submitting to the team for review
    • Applying brand and team feedback to all newsletters
    • Executing newsletters using MailChimp
    • Responding to any responses to newsletters
    • Providing monthly data analysis on newsletter activity and analytics
  • Other Communications
    • Digital marketing as needed and appropriate
    • Communications with key stakeholders as needed and appropriate


  • A highly organized person who loves planning and tracking 
  • Detail oriented with an eye for specifics especially numbers for budgets and copy edits for communications
  • Passionate and knowledgeable about the arts, decolonial practices and supporting intersectionality in inclusive spaces
  • A direct communicator with a critical lens to ensure that the project not only stays on time, task, and in budget, but also maintains our goals and mandate
  • Comfortable enough with math to manage budgets and numbers in spreadsheets
  • A strong and clear communicator (verbal and written)
  • Able to lead a team, take direction, and delegate and know when each are necessary
  • A strong writer and copy editor 


  • Excellent Writing Skills in English (required) & French (an asset)
  • Excellent Communications Skills (E-Blasts, social media platforms)
  • Facility with design
  • Solid working knowledge of the principles of digital marketing
  • Proficient in the use of digital and collaboration tools including:
    • G-Suite
    • MailChimp
    • Adobe Creative Suite or Canva
    • Asana
    • Slack
    • Social Media Platforms
    • Zoom
    • Wordpress
  • Basic video editing skills an asset


  • $35/hour for 10 hours a week
  • Contract period: June 2022-December 2022 with possibility of extension dependent on funding
