Mutya is a queer filipino of Spanish and Malayan descent, born a settler on the unceded Coast Salish Territories of the xwməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Tsleil-Waututh nations.
Mutya is an interdisciplinary artist who combines music, movement, performance and visual arts within her professional practice as a vocalist, creator, experience host, performer, creative empowerment facilitator and event producer. She has worked with a variety of intergenerational, intercultural and youth focused organizations across BC, Canada and the US.

I used to think that I always had to make something new any time I would unleash something creative. I am learning that revisiting old things is a part of finding something new in the making of a thing. I am recognizing that being in a new place, mentally and physically, spiritually from when I first created this track is an interesting place to be as I notice how my listening has grown wiser and I can hear and feel new sublte things inside the soundscape, that I had not yet heard or felt before. I feel conversations are similar to that, where certain things said years ago still ripple inside my body, like a sound/song, and the words we remember have new meanings as the perspectives, understanding inside myself and things around me deepen and grow.

Wall, wearable, suspended and self standing structures available.

Folk Architecture that cultivates timeless experiences when in its presence.

Some pieces are adorned with repurposed textiles, wool fibers, with inspirations from flowers, landscapes and my Lola’s (grandmother’s) brilliance. I never had a chance to meet her, however inherited many of her gifts and strengths in making and imagination. I learned many years later through my father Ismael Gabuya Macatumpag and embellishing many things with something flora, that Felicia Gabuya Macatumpag loved to embroider flowers and sing.
