natalie abdou I give thanks to the various lands that are a part of my lineage and being, that care and sustain me daily and the first peoples of these places and spaces – Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat (Southern Ontario) Mi’kmaq (Nova Scotia), Ohlone (California) & Nubian, Kemet (Egypt). I am a community facilitator, artist, life-long learner, earth-tender and creative soul. I love to learn alongside others for the purpose of community creation and transformation. I have spent the last 15 years connecting and collaborating with diverse communities in North America and Egypt, co-creating learning environments that are founded upon shared values of diversity, love, respect, creativity and self-empowerment – embracing a vision of solidarity, social justice and change from the inside-out. I see participatory learning, the arts and embodied wisdom practices as portals of transformative capacity, providing space for our souls to dance, breathe and unleash the deep wisdom that resides within, in service of personal, collective and systemic transformation. Alongside this, my personal journey of spirituality and creative expression weaves within it the themes of personal and ancestral healing alongside collective and paradigm shifting visions. I am currently collaborating with Bloom Consulting (Toronto), Branch Out Theatre (Toronto), the Coady International Institute (Antigonsh, N.S.), Interplay (Oakland, CA) and va

mud flat cracks

the mud flat cracks

remind me so much of our own skin

the grooves of our beingness

that life reverberates in fractals

that the patterns of the cosmos and nature

are replicated in our being

i wonder too then what my ancestors saw and felt of themselves in the land?

in what ways did they feel mirrored and understand themselves more fully?

what words and sounds and gestures did they use to give expression to the feelings that were aroused in them in this connection?
