Following a workshop in Montreal from January – March 2023, the cohort returned to the work in a SeedPool residency in July, made possible through the partnership with Playwrights Workshop Montreal and the generous support of The Cole Foundation and Conseil des Arts de Montreal.
A fresh team of co-facilitators, Julie Tamiko Manning and Nadia Myre, worked alongside Diane to draw out the interlinking stories of 8 remarkable artists coming from diverse disciplinary and cultural backgrounds.
“Creating a timeline of world events, compelling moments, and family events has truly offered me a deeper understanding and connection to my ancestors, as well as the historical context in which they lived. It’s incredible how such a simple act can ignite discussions within my family and bring forth untold stories and experiences. By actively exploring my family history, I not only gain an insight into the past but also establish a link to my roots and heritage. I will continue delving into this process, as there are still many ways to uncover more about my family’s history and the people who shaped my lineage.”
