Nago Dance
Margaret Smith, my great-great-great-grandmother often shows me her most joyful moments, when in ceremony. Up in the mountains, she always took the trip to be with her community.
The primary dance in this video is Nago, derived from Kalinago another Indigenous peoples in the Caribbean, also referred to as Caribs is a warrior dance. The dance in its verbal language means to break the chains or breakthrough.
The dance is teaching me and supporting me in bringing to the surface for transformation, what chains of old habits, negative thought loops, or paradigms I need to release, while in the same vein, towards what I am breaking through to touch, taste, feel more free in my body, my life.
Today I am learning that the Taino and Kalinagos are gathering, sharing and anchoring in solidarity in reviving and maintaining our Indigenous Caribbean.
